Weekend preview: Home double as Bassett aim to make more Vase history

Wednesday 29th November 2023

It's a home doubleheader for Royal Wootton Bassett Town this weekend - and the action begins on Saturday with a huge game against Bridgwater United in the Isuzu FA Vase third round.

Having reached the third round for a third consecutive season, Bassett will be aiming to write club history and advance to the fourth round for the first time ever.

Standing in Bassett's way though are Bridgwater, and despite the fallout from the recent controversial sacking of long-term manager Dave Pearse, the Robins still represent extremely tough opponents. Flying high in the Western League Premier Division, Bridgwater are a a side who reached the fifth round last year and are aiming for a fourth straight fourth round appearance.

Bridgwater edged the only ever previous meeting between the teams, winning 2-1 in the Vase second round in 2020-21. However, they had home advantage for that game - something which Bassett get to enjoy this time round.

A full preview of the tie can be read here.

Admission on Saturday is £7 for adults, £4 for concessions and £3 for RWBTFC youth members.

Please note that as an FA Vase fixture, season ticket holders are required to pay for admission.

Huge thanks go to matchday sponsors H&B Carpentry Ltd.
