Weekend preview: Vase and derby home double

Wednesday 8th November 2023

Royal Wootton Bassett Town's Men's and Women's First Team sides both have exciting home fixtures this weekend.

On Saturday the Men's First Team entertain Longlevens in the Isuzu FA Vase second round (Sustain Stadium, 3pm kick off), with Sam Collier and his side aiming to make it to the third round of the competition for the third year in a row.

Bassett will have to overcome Hellenic League Premier Division rivals in search of their first ever visit to the third round if they are to make it that far though.

And Longlevens were 4-0 winners the last time they visited the Sustain Stadium and a match was completed. They led 1-0 in mid-October at the point the teams' scheduled first league encounter of the season was abandoned due to an injury to Harry Pickering.

A full preview of what promises to be a great tie can be read here.

Admission on Saturday is £7 for adults and £4 for concessions - including RWBTFC youth members.

Please note that as an FA Vase fixture, season ticket holders and RWBTFC youth members are required to pay for entry.

Then on Sunday the Women's First Team entertain near neighbours Purton in the South West Regional Women's Football League Division One Eastern (Sustain Stadium, 2pm kick off).

Adam Wood and his team will be seeking to complete a season double over their rivals having won 3-0 at the Red House on the opening day of the season.

Admission on Sunday is £4 for adults, £2 for concessions and free for RWBTFC youth members.

The Development team are in Wiltshire League Premier Division action on Saturday too. They visit Shrewton United (2.15pm kick off), who they beat 6-2 at home back in August.
