Royal Wootton Bassett Town moved to the top of the South West Regional Women's Football League Division One North courtesy of an emphatic 8-0 win against AFC Brislington.
With Mangotsfield United losing to Bath City and Corsham Town (against Cirencester Town) and Bitton (at winless Paulton Rovers) both drawing, it meant results elsewhere all went in Bassett's favour.
And that James Lally's side inherited first place from Mangotsfield by virtue of goal difference.
There is still a very long way to go. Indeed Bassett are yet to reach the halfway mark in terms of games played.
But in an extremely tight title race it is advantage Bassett for now - with vital fixtures against Bitton and Corsham to come following next week's break for League Cup action.
Against basement dwellers Brislington an Elle Scott penalty got Bassett going.
Ten minutes later Megan Young fired into the corner after receiving Laura Jefferies' crossfield pass.
And it was quickly 3-0 as Maddy Elliott steered in from a Kat Bach cut back.
Elliott seized on a defensive error for her second, tapping in after her initial step past the 'keeper rattled the post.
A fine lob from Young then made it 5-0 before half time after a neat give and go with Emma Sykes.
It took some time in the second half to breakdown Brislington again.
But when an Alice Bowden clearance found its way to Elliott, she slipped in Hannah Gulliver for a cool finish to make it 6-0.
Superb build up play from the back and a well timed run from Elliott then presented the forward with a chance for her hat trick from which she made no mistake, lashing a low drive into the net.
And Tori Taylor completed the scoring, prodding when a Jefferies cross fell to her ten yards out.
