Royal Wootton Bassett Town Development suffered an agonising 4-3 defeat away against Trowbridge Town in a thrilling Wiltshire League Premier Division contest.
Bassett had led 2-0 before falling 3-2 behind. They then levelled only to concede a late winner.
Trowbridge moved up to fifth place in the table after the hard-fought win, while Bassett remain towards the bottom of the table.
Both sides had introduced experience into their ranks ahead of the game and it was to be one of those "old heads" who put the visitors two goals to the good. Chris Head, who normally plays for Bassett's Veterans' side, scoring the opener in the 25th minute after he dispossessed Trowbridge keeper Rob Brown to coolly slot into an empty net.
Head was at it again ten minutes later, doubling the lead for Bassett.
Trowbridge got themselves back into the game a minute from half time, recent signing Jordan Kirk heading in from a corner.
Trowbridge then got themselves back on level terms just before the hour mark, James Cox curling in a free kick that keeper Dan West failed to hold on to.
Three minutes later Trowbridge went in front for the first time in the game. And it was Cox who was again the scorer for his second of the game.
Bassett were to get themselves back level twenty minutes from time with a helping hand from the home side as Jacob Gardner's mishit clearance eluded Brown to level matters up at 3-3.
There was to be a winner though and it came six minutes from time - and for the second time in the game it came from a corner, substitute Nick Taylor heading in for the hosts.
