Boys absolute class

At last!! This is the kind of result we should be getting every week!! The boys were absolute class today, from front to back. We actually had 11 players that all wanted the football and no-one hiding from it. The passing and movement was excellent, particularly from back thru to midfield wingers, Sean and Oliver. We hardly wasted a ball the whole game and if we did the determination to win it back was there for all to see. The first goal came on 10 mins. The ball was won in midfield and knocked over the top of their defence for Alec to run onto. He took in the box and kept his composure to lift it over the keeper and into the net. It only took another 5 mins for Bassett to score again, this time fine passing all over the park, ending with Vinny coolly slotting home from 10 yards. Credit to Highworth, who are six places above us in the league, as they came back at us and scored just before half time.

But just 5 mins into the second half Vinny rounded off the game with another fine goal. Man of the match goes to Dan Payne for his sheer determination today, winning tackles and passing well out of defence. We also welcome back Brett Fairclough to Bassett after a year in the wilderness!!
