Bassett Ladies winning run continues

Wootton Bassett Town Ladies travelled the short distance to South Marston Rec to defend their undefeated start of the season against local adversaries Swindon Spitfires Reserves. It was a wet blustery afternoon in which the wind played its part in the game,

Bassett started the first half with the wind behind them but were unable to take advantage of the pressure they were able put upon the Spitfires defence the closest they got was when Tash Burson hit the post.

It was not until 35 minute that the deadlock was broken when taking advantage of the wind Rebecca Poole curled in a near post corner which eluded everyone including the keeper, 1 – 0 to Bassett. Hulse added a second just before half time.

In the second half against the wind Bassett defence did well with Emily Snook making her debut in the centre and Ali Knight doing exceptionally well in her unaccustomed position of left back.

Bassett used both their wide players well with Poole and William causing all shorts of problems down the flanks feeding the ever lively Hulse and Reynolds Bassetts forwards

The best goal of the afternoon coming when Hulse who was forced wide of the goal and finished from the most acute of angles from the right of goal to just inside the far post.

Poole then added her second and Hulse competed her hat trick. Bassett finished of the game with ten players after Karen Price was injured in a fifty fifty challenge soon after replacing Ali Knight at left back .
