The 2020-21 campaign may only recently have concluded, but Royal Wootton Bassett Town's senior sides will soon be getting started with their preparations for the 2021-22 season.

First Team

The hard work ahead of Bassett's 2021-22 Hellenic League Premier Division campaign gets started on Thursday 1 July with the first pre-season training session (Gerard Buxton Sports Ground, 7-8.30pm).

Training will then take place every Tuesday (8-9.30pm) and Thursday (7-8.30pm) ahead of the first competitive game of the season, which is expected to be a midweek contest in week commencing 2 August.

Sam Collier's side will also be playing five friendly fixtures.

Four of these are set to be against Wiltshire League opposition, beginning with a home match against Lambourn Sports (Saturday 10 July, 4pm kick off).

Bassett will then host Melksham Town Reserves (Saturday 17 July, 1pm kick off) before an intra-squad friendly against the Development team (Tuesday 20 July, 8m kick off).

Fellow step five side Tadley Calleva will visit the Gerard Buxton Sports Ground for Bassett's penultimate tune-up match (Saturday 24 July, 4pm kick off) before a final friendly away against Marlborough Town (27 July, kick off tbc).

Ladies

Bassett's Ladies begin their preparations for their third season in the South West Regional Women's Football League Premier Division with a pair of open trials, the first of which takes place on Thursday 17 June. The second will then be held on 24 June. Both take place at the Gerard Buxton Sports Ground, with trials beginning at 8pm.

Pre-season training is then due to begin in earnest on Thursday 8 July (8pm), with weekly sessions held at the Gerard Buxton Sports Ground.

Two friendlies have been confirmed so far.

Bassett will host Swindon Town Development (Sunday 1 August, 2pm kick off) before visiting Oxford City (Sunday 15 August, 2 pm kick off).

Three further friendly matches on Sunday 25 July, Sunday 8 August and Sunday 22 August are in the process of being arranged.

Development Team

Like the first team, the build up to the start of the Development team's Wiltshire League Premier Division season will begin on Thursday 1 July with the opening pre-season training session (Gerard Buxton Sports Ground, 6.30-8pm).

Training will then take place every Tuesday and Thursday ahead of the first competitive game of the season, which is expected to be Saturday 14 August.

Six friendly fixtures have been arranged.

Steve Yeardley's side will first host Marlborough Town (Saturday 10 July, 2pm kick off) before visiting Melksham Town Development (Saturday 17 July, 2pm kick off).

After the intra-squad friendly against the first team, the Development team will then take on Swindon and District League outfit Priory Vale (Saturday 24 July, 2pm kick off), Hellenic League Division Two side Fairford Town Development (Saturday 31 July, 2pm kick off) and another Swindon and District League side in the form of Nalgo Sports Club (Saturday 7 August, 2pm kick off).
