Coronavirus Update: Updated Risk Assessment and Method Statement

Thursday 27th August 2020

Royal Wootton Bassett Town have published an updated version of its Covid-19 Risk Assessment and Method Statement (RAMS).

The updated document covers procedures that allow for the return of spectators to games played on the stadium pitch at the Gerard Buxton Sports Ground.

It is vital that these procedures are adhered to for the sake of all our members, opposing teams, their families and the wider local community. Football activities will continue to take place according to The FA and Government guidelines.

The RAMS document can be found here.

It is essential that all coaches, players, parents/guardians/carers and supporters take time to read this document. No coach or player must attend any training session or take part in a match unless they have read and understood the controls that are required. It is also necessary for coaches, players and parents/guardians/carers to have signed the RAMS form.

The RAMS document includes vital information, which outlines:

  • An assessment of risks related to maintaining social distancing, the site and buildings, equipment, health and wellbeing, and travelling, and the measures put in place to mitigate against these;
  • How training sessions and matches will take place safely in a way that reduces and minimises the risk of Covid-19 transmission;
  • What is expected of coaches;
  • What is expected of players;
  • What is expected of parents / guardians / carers;
  • What is expected of spectators attending games;
  • Procedures that will be in place should a person become unwell with Covid-19 symptoms;
  • Maps outlining drop-off zones, collection zones, Covid-19 action zones and one-way routes that will be put in place at the Gerard Buxton Sports Ground
  • Control measures will be monitored and audited on a regular basis.

    Within the updated RAMS, notable changes include:

    Stadium Pitch Spectators

    Anyone wishing to attend should self-assess for Covid-19 symptoms. If you are showing symptoms, please do not travel to games.

    Capacity restrictions will apply, with a maximum of 150 spectators allowed until 31 August 2020. After 1 September, this will be increased to 300. Spectators will be admitted to the ground on a first come, first served basis.

    Those attending are advised to make their way to the stadium pitch early. Before entering the ground, spectators must make use of the hand sanitiser available.

    Contact information will be taken at the entry to the ground in order to enable Track and Trace to take place (should this be necessary). Details will be stored for 21 days before being destroyed. Those refusing to provide details will be refused entry.

    Upon entering the ground, those attending should pay using a contactless payment method.

    Within the ground, a maximum group size of six may sit or stand together. Otherwise, social distancing must be maintained. Those not adhering to social distancing requirements will be asked to leave the facility.

    Spectators are instructed to refrain from retrieving footballs; only specific club volunteers should do this.

    Covid-19 Officer change

    As per FA requirements, the club is required to have a Covid-19 Officer. Paul Gerrish will now fulfil this role. He can be contacted by email at paul.gerrish@wbtfc.co.uk or mobile (07946 629483).
