3G pitch footwear policy

Thursday 25th August 2016

After recent requests for clarity, the football club would like to reiterate the policy regarding suitable footwear for the 3G pitch at the New Gerard Buxton Sports Ground.

Players and coaches are strongly recommended to wear football boots with moulded or screw-in studs on the surface.

Astroturf trainers and boots with blades are acceptable, but not ideal.

Under no circumstances should general trainers be worn on the surface, however.

Unfortunately, the continued use of non-suitable footwear will damage the pitch and increase the maintenance costs for the Sports Association and football club.

The club is now in the process of policing usage and those with unsuitable footwear will be asked to sit out sessions. Persistent offenders will be barred from using the facility.

As a reminder, footwear rules apply to managers, coaches and players. No spectators should be on the pitch at any time, while no food or smoking is allowed in the 3G pitch area.

Members are therefore asked to assist in observing and helping police these conditions in order to preserve a vital asset, which requires significant investment.
