Two late goals condemned Royal Wootton Bassett Town to a second consecutive Hellenic League Premier Division defeat as Jonny Aitkenhead's side fell to a 2-0 loss at Cinderford Town.

While the goals Bassett conceded did not come as late as those against Slimbridge in

midweek, this was another agonising defeat as the Foresters scored in the 84th and 90th minutes to prevail in what had been an otherwise tight encounter.

Cinderford had arguably the better of the game's chances. But another solid defensive display had Bassett seemingly on course for a solid away point.

However, Tom Chamberlain - who had fizzed a shot over in the opening period - finally broke Bassett's resistance.

That forced Bassett to push for an equaliser. But shortly after Jack Watts delivered a suckerpunch and wrapped up the three points for Cinderford.

The result sees Bassett slip to 14th, with Cinderford climbing back above them.

A top half finish is still within reach for Bassett - though having played more games than the sides above them, some favours will be needed from elsewhere if they are to achieve that.
