Bassett U16 start with a win

With both teams starting brightly with chances at both ends, it was Wootton Bassett who opened the scoring with a coolly placed penalty by Martyn Plaistow, after a good run by Dave Rayner, which saw himself taken out half way inside the box.

After the opening goal Bassett dominated the game and with a good pass from Martyn Plaistow put Daniel Hewitt-Dean clear through on goal to score Bassett's second. South Swindon struggled to break Bassett down, with solid defending throughout the team.

The second half continued as the end of the first, with Bassett dominating procession and with many chances from Bassett, it finally took a good turn and strike by Martyn Plaistow into the top corner, with the keeper easily beaten to finish the scoring.

Bassett finished with good chances, but the score remained 3-0.

A fantastic start to the season, with great teamwork and an excellent debut by David Rayner, finished off with faultless defending by Jordan Brooks, who has moved back into defence.
