Comfortable win for Bassett in second game with Wroughton

In the second match between the two sides, Bassett proved too strong for Wroughton with Bassett winning by 6 goals to nil with Mike Ford helping himself to 5 goals and Phillip Forster one. The score could have been a lot higher but for the Bassett side all wanting to get their name on the score sheet and ignoring teammates in better positions. All credit to Wroughton who kept going to the end of the match and could have scored on a couple of occasions but for the fine goalkeeping of Tom Holmes. Bassett had a number of outstanding performers. Mike Ford was a threat throughout, David Lazenby ensured that the Wroughton forwards had few goal scoring opportunities and Phillip Forster also had a fine match. Bassett have strength in depth this season and these three players will clearly be hoping that their performance against Wroughton will result in selection in the league side for the next match.
