Royal Wootton Bassett Town aim to book their place in the semi finals of the Marsh Hellenic League Challenge Cup - and also to extend their season - when they entertain Clanfield in a last eight encounter on Tuesday night (Sustain Stadium, 7.45pm kick off).

While playing Division One opponents, Bassett will have to be at their best to advance with the visiting Robins vying for success on the cup front as well as another playoff finish in the league.

And Clanfield have already beaten Premier Division opponents twice in the competition, defeating both Lydney Town and Cirencester Town on penalties after earlier round successes against Prestwood and Didcot Town Development.

To get this far, Bassett have seen off Watlington Town and Longlevens.

The two teams have been semi-regular cup opponents in recent years.

Bassett defeated Clanfield 2-1 at the same stage of the Floodlit Cup last season. Prior to that, in May 2021 Bassett triumphed 2-0 in Oxfordshire in a Challenge Cup first round contest. A Challenge Cup meeting between the teams in 2017-18 also ended in victory for Bassett, with Sam Collier scoring the game's only goal.

Admission on Tuesday is £8 for adults, £5 for concessions and free for RWBTFC youth members.
