Congratulations to Royal Wootton Bassett Town Under 13 Blue who were confirmed as North Wilts League Division One runners-up on Sunday
Bassett's second place finish was confirmed after challengers Robins were unable to defeat champions Swindon Supermarine Youth White in their final fixture, with their contesting in a 0-0 stalemate.
Bassett were already guaranteed a top three finish having won eleven, drawn three and lost just two of their sixteen league fixtures.
After finishing their fixtures on 20 March, Bassett were left to wait to see if Robins were able to catch them - and it ultimately came down to the final day. Fortunately for Bassett, they were unable to inflict defeat on Supermarine and pull level on points.
Runners-up is a superb achievement for the Blues, who were playing their first season in Division One after winning the Division Two title last year. Huge congratulations to the team for an outstanding campaign!
Although most teams at competitive age groups have already finished their fixtures, four sides were in competitive action over the course of the past week.
In Division Three, a Callum King brace earned a point for the Under 18 Yellows as they drew their final match 2-2 against third place FC Calne Youth Hurricanes on Sunday.
Last Wednesday saw the Under 16 Yellows lose narrowly in their final game. Facing a tough contest away at Division Three runners-up Lydiard Millicent Juniors, Basset put in a solid performance but ultimately lost by the odd goal in seven. Patrick Otoo-Mensah (2) and Ewan Painter found the net for the Yellows who enjoyed a strong season, finishing fourth.
On Saturday the Under 12 Girls fell to a 3-2 loss in their penultimate Wiltshire County Women's and Girls' League Division One fixture away at Bishops Cannings Youth Butterflies. Daisy Bundy and Bethany Humphrey were on target for Bassett.
On Tuesday evening the Under 14 Blues fell to a narrow 1-0 defeat away at Wroughton Youth White in their penultimate North Wilts League Division Two contest.
