Under 15 Blues clinch North Wilts League Division Two title

Wednesday 27th April 2022

Congratulations to Royal Wootton Bassett Town Under 15 Blue who clinched the North Wilts League Division Two title on Sunday!

The Blues' title win was confirmed courtesy of Marlborough Youth Eagles' narrow defeat against Malmesbury Youth – a result that means Marlborough can no longer catch Bassett.

Bassett completed their league fixtures at the end of March and have been patiently waiting to see if they would finish first or have to settle for runners-up spot.

With their final position now confirmed, we can finally say huge congratulations for an outstanding season that has been deservedly rewarded by finishing as Division Two champions!

While the Under 15 Blues have and four other Bassett teams playing at competitive age groups have finished their matches, six sides were in action over the weekend.

And there was plenty for the Under 12 Yellows to celebrate as they brought their successful campaign to a close with a thrilling 8-7 victory away against South Cerney Youth.

With the win, the Yellows sealed a share of third place in Division Five as they finish with a record of 12 wins, four draws and just four defeats from their 20 league fixtures.

It was a positive weekend for the Under 16 Blues too. They drew 2-2 away against Melksham Town Youth Hurricanes thanks to goals from Rhys Matthew Westlake and Samuel Case and retain a three point lead over their opponents in Division One.

Sunday's result followed a 5-1 midweek triumph at home against Kingsdown Youth Lions. In that fixture, Westlake led the way with a hat trick, while Maxime Fiddes and Rosevel Ribeiro were also on target.

In their first season in the top flight after gaining promotion last year, Bassett currently sit in fourth place with two games to go.

Elsewhere, the Under 18 Yellows fell to a narrow 3-2 loss against Division Three champions Croft Junior Blue. Jacob Rendell-Haines and Krishan Marshall were on target for Bassett in their penultimate match.

The Under 18 Blues were beaten 4-1 by FC Chippenham Youth Blue, while the Under 14 Blues slipped a place to seventh in Division Two as they lost 5-1 against Marlborough Youth.

On Saturday, Sienna Badman scored for the Under 12 Girls in a 7-1 defeat away at Melksham Town in a game played on the stadium pitch at the infiLED Arena – a fantastic experience for the team.
