After going five games without a victory, Royal Wootton Bassett Town Under 12 Girls returned to winning ways in style on Saturday as they outlasted Larkhall Athletic 6-5 away from home in a thrilling Wiltshire County Women's and Girls' League contest.

Momentum swung both ways in a game in which both sides attacked with intent, but it was eventually Bassett who prevailed thanks to a hat trick from Robyn-Jane Spencer, a brace from leading scorer Daisy Bundy and a further strike courtesy of Bethany Humphrey.

They were one of six Bassett youth teams to claim maximum points this weekend, with five sides in North Wilts League action on Sunday also emerging victorious.

There was an important win for the Under 15 Blues as their narrow 2-1 win against third place Marlborough Youth Eagles took Bassett to the top of Division Two. After falling behind early on, Finlay Marshall equalised for Bassett before Beau Hicks struck a dramatic late winner.

The Under 14 Blues, Under 13 Yellows and Under 18 Blues also all prevailed by the odd goal.

Charlie Hancock and Papa Opoku-Menkah scored for the Under 14 Blues as they saw off Croft Junior Red, a win that lifts Bassett up into fifth in Division Two.

The Under 13 Yellows outlasted Kingsdown Lions Tigers in a seven-goal nailbiter. Bassett trailed three times in the match but ultimately prevailed to preserve second place in Division Four. Fynn Crone's brace included the deciding goal, while Yusuf Guloglu and William Moreton also registered.

Meanwhile, the Under 18 Blues' 2-1 win at home against FC Chippenham Youth Blues was only their second win of the season. Sebastian Smith and Flynn Walters registered for Bassett.

Bassett's biggest winners of the weekend were the Under 12 Yellows. They beat Kingsdown Lions Reds 6-3 as Aleksander Goralczyk fired a hat trick for the second consecutive game with further goals provided by Jake Berry and Daisy Bundy.

While not winning, there was an impressive result for the Under 12 Blues in Division Three as they held runaway leaders Fairford Youth Hawks to a 3-3 draw. All six goals were scored in the first half, with Alex Greenouff (2) and Mason Brooks scoring for Bassett. The Blues become only the second team this season to claim a point off Fairford.

Elsewhere, there were agonising defeats for the Under 16 Blues and Under 13 Blues.

The Under 16 Blue team's North Wilts League Cup quarter final tie away against Kingsdown Lions Irons proved to be a tense affair. And the teams could not be separated, the match finishing 2-2 with Samuel Bounds grabbing both Bassett goals. The game therefore went to penalties – and it was Kingsdown who progressed to the last four as they triumphed 5-4 in the shootout.

In league action, the Under 13 Blues lost 1-0 to fellow title challengers Swindon Supermarine Youth White, a result that leaves Bassett now in a share of top spot, with Supermarine eight points back with five games in hand.
