Under 18 Yellow secure runners-up spot

Sunday 15th March 2020

Congratulations to Royal Wootton Bassett Town Under 18 Yellow who secured runners-up spot in North Wilts League Division Two with a 2-1 triumph against champions elect Blunsdon Youth.

Requiring a draw from their final game of the season to guarantee at least a share of second place, Bassett made certain that they cannot be caught by Wanborough Juniors Black, taking all three points and inflicting a first league defeat of the season on Blunsdon.

Michael Gilder and Joshua Harkness were on target for Bassett, who took a 2-0 lead only to see Blunsdon pull a goal in the closing stages. The visitors' goal proved too little, too late though, as the Yellows held out for the victory.

The result means Bassett finish the season on the back of an eight game unbeaten streak. Draws in the. three matches preceding their concluding fixture meant that they were unable to supplant Blunsdon and take the title. But the team have enjoyed an extremely impressive campaign, suffering just two league defeats and making the quarter finals of the North Wilts League Cup where they narrowly missed out on a place in the semi finals.
