Bassett named Hellenic League Team of the Month

Royal Wootton Bassett Town have been named the Hellenic League Premier Division November 'Team of the Month', narrowly beating out Flackwell Heath to claim the prize.

Assessed based on performance in Hellenic League Premier Division fixtures and cup games over the course of November, Bassett and Flackwell finished tied on eleven points as the division's best performers. After points were deducted based on discipline, Bassett wound up top of the pile.

It's just reward for Sam Collier and his team following a busy November that saw them face a number of tough fixtures. But Bassett were able to come out the other end with their place in the top four of the division still intact.

The month began with a hard-fought 3-2 home victory against Abingdon United that was secured courtesy of Matt Bennett's brace and a TJ Bohane penalty.

Bassett then suffered an unfortunate 4-3 reverse in a thriller away against Reading City before falling to another narrow defeat, this time by the odd goal in five, at Binfield.

They bounced back in style though, recording their first away league win of the season as goals from Bennett and Brad Pagliaroli sealed a 2-0 triumph at Lydney Town.

A third victory of the month followed as Danny Lachacz' early header and a well-worked Bohane finish delivered a 2-1 win at home against Ardley United.

Bassett then came from behind to claim a home point against Bishop's Cleeve. Trailing 2-0 early on, Bohane got Bassett back in the game with a penalty. Pagliaroli and Rob Lincoln put the hosts ahead after the restart before the Mitres rescued a point with a late equaliser.

November concluded with a trip to Holmer Green, and goals from Nick Stanley and Pagliaroli earned a point in a 2-2 draw against a side boasting a strong home record.
