Under 15 Blues see off reigning champs

Sunday 30th September 2018

Royal Wootton Bassett Town Under 15 Blue enjoyed an outstanding Sunday as they defeated reigning North Wilts League Division champions Swindon Supermarine J 4-2.

Bassett were in command throughout the game, leading 3-0 at half time before ultimately securing victory. Kevin Prouse made it eight league goals for the season with a brace, while Reece Gerring and Rory Ryan also got in on the act.

Both Under 18 and 16 teams were also victorious this weekend.

Ahead of their all-Bassett clash next weekend, the Under 18 Blue and Yellow teams both recorded convincing victories.

The Blues defeated Croft Junior Blue 7-0 courtesy of braces from Daniel Hopper and George Staten and further strikes from Archie Benge, Harvey Coster and Thomas Phillips.

Meanwhile, five different scorers were on target for the Yellows in a 5-2 win away at Marlborough Youth. Ryan Battershell, Ryan Cinnamond, Aaron Griffiths, Joe Mitchell and Samuel Perry all found the back of the net.

The Under 16 Blues and Yellows recorded a double over Wanborough Juniors. In Division One, the Blues defeated Wanborough's Black team 3-1, while in Division Two, a Cameron Wootten pair and Jack Timbrell strike ensured a win by the same score for the Yellows against their opponent's equivalents. The result means Bassett's Yellow team sit level on points with Wanborough at the top of the table.

In cup action, the Under 13 Blues booked a second round place with a 10-1 triumph against Ramsbury Youth. Jack Blunt scored four, while Alec Gawthropp hit a hat-trick. Completing the scoring were James Dorset (2) and Noah Cranswick-Coates.

Elsewhere, there was a narrow defeat by the odd goal in five for the Under 15 Yellows against Lydiard Youth Black. Scoring for Bassett were Sam Burn and Samuel Osei Bonsu.

Two other teams were beaten by a single goal. A tight encounter between Wroughton Youth Leopards and the Under 13 Whites produced just a single goal, with Bassett being beaten for the second week in a row. The Under 12 Blues fell 2-1 against Ferndale Rodbourne Red. Edward Greenouff was on target for Bassett.

Also ending up on the losing end were the Under 14 Blues. They fell for the first time this season away against Lydiard Youth, Jacob Rendell-Haines scoring their only goal in a 4-1 loss.

There was a heavier loss for the Under 14 Yellows, who were beaten 6-0 by Lydiard Youth Hammers.
