The Price is right

Monday 14 May 2018 - by Stuart Smedley (Updated on 14 May 2018 at 08:54)

Congratulations to Mike Price, who finished top of this season's RWBTFC Fantasy Football League!

The club Treasurer's 'Cheesy Naan' squad finished with 2,248 points, and was comfortably ahead of the rest of the competition, finishing 47 points in front of nearest challenger Jack Paish.

Price had headed the table for a number of weeks and showed no sign of nerves as the season reached its climax, proving he is a worthy champion.

Wesley van Vliet, a member of Bassett's Dutch sister club FC 's-Gravenzande, rounded out the top three (2,189 points).

Price's victory brings to an end Andy Guppy's run of consecutive titles. The winner of the three previous editions finished in seventh place (2,157 points), two places ahead of two-time champion Sam Lawro (2,152 points).

It was something of a season to forget for the other previous players to have topped the league and entered the RWBTFC Fantasy Football Hall of Fame though. Josh Dimond came in 42nd place, while Michael Case came a lowly 85th, just six places off the bottom.

Huge thanks go to all 91 entrants, a total which set another record. We hope you all enjoyed taking part.

The Fantasy League is great fun to play and, importantly, free to enter, and will be up and running again next season for the ninth time.
