Six of the best from Royal Wootton Bassett Town Under 12 Yellow secured a playoff for the North Wilts League Division Four title against joint leaders Ramsbury Juniors next Sunday.

Bassett needed to beat Croft Junior Red in their final regular season game of the year to draw level on points to force the championship decider, and they dispatched Croft in style, triumphing 6-3.

Alana Hunt led the way for her team with a hat-trick, while leading scorer Patrick Otoo-Mensah added a brace. Reuben Marchment completed the scoring with this first of the season.

Also victorious were the Under 15 Yellows, who defeated FC Abbey Meads Youth Colts 8-1.

Cameron Wootten, scorer of two goals for the season going into the game, netted a hat-trick, Tom Warren grabbed a pair, and Noah Beech, Adam Jones and Joey Warren scored one each.

Bassett now face an anxious wait to see if they too will require a playoff. They are guaranteed at least runners-up spot in Division Three.

However, if Swindon Supermarine J fall to defeat in their final game of the campaign against Marlborough Youth then an extra game will be required to settle the question of who takes the title.

Elsewhere, there was an eight-goal thriller between the Under 12 Girls and Trowbridge Wanderers Youth.

Victory for Bassett would have taken them level on points with Trowbridge, but a see-saw encounter ended up all square.

Poppy Wannell struck her fifth Wiltshire County Girls League hat-trick of the season, while Rosie Jones scored her third of the year.

The Under 14 Yellows enjoyed a tight battle against Lydiard Millicent Juniors in their penultimate fixture, but ultimately succumbed to a 2-0 loss.

Meanwhile, on Saturday the Under 13 Yellows lost 8-0 away against Purton Youth in their final match of the year.
