Under 16 Girls aim to make it second time lucky

Wednesday 10th May 2017

After the narrowest of defeats in the Wiltshire County Cup Final three weeks ago, Royal Wootton Bassett Town Under 16 Girls will be looking to finally get their hands on some silverware when they face Frome Town Ladies Youth in the Wiltshire County Girls League Cup showpiece on Sunday.

The game takes place at Melksham Town's Oakfields Stadium, with kick off at 12.30pm.

It's a clash that pits the league's second and third place sides against one another. But Bassett will be confident of securing victory, having already defeated Frome 11-1 and 6-0 in the league.

Bassett's journey to the final began with a 19-0 win against Melksham Town Youth before they saw off league leaders Westbury Youth Amazons 5-0 thanks to a fantastic semi-final performance.

Frome, meanwhile, were awarded their quarter final tie against Swindon Spitfires before defeating FC Chippenham Youth 18-0 in the last four.

Best of luck to Bassett - it would be great to see as much support as possible at Melksham to cheer on the girls!

If Bassett win, it could even be the first part of a wonderful league and cup double, with a title decider against Westbury to come next week.
