Youth pair guarantee runners-up

Congratulations to the Under 16 Yellow and Under 14 Blue sides, who finished their North Wilts League campaigns as runners-up in their respective divisions!

A 5-0 victory against Croft Juniors Blue sealed second place for the Under 16 Yellows in Division Three.

Ryan Battershell notched a brace, while Aaron Griffiths, Samuel Perry and Nikky Price also grabbed goals to seal a convincing victory.

The win was their fourth in a row, and lifts them a point above Wanborough Juniors, who finish third.

In an extremely competitive division, just six points separate Bassett and sixth place Marlborough Youth in the final reckoning.

It's a fantastic achievement for the Bassett side, who won just two games all of last year. They've shown great commitment, desire and character throughout this season, and have been deservedly rewarded.

The Under 14 Blues also wrapped up their league campaign with a resounding win as they defeated Chippenham Town Youth 4-0. Billy Saunders (2), Nathaniel Bell and Daniel Warre were on target.

Despite a Saunders goal, their title hopes had been extinguished in the week after defeat by the odd goal in three against Swindon Supermarine R, who took the title with that win.

While a disappointing loss, with a runners-up finish and a chance at silverware in the North Wilts League Cup final still to come, it's been a fantastic season for the Blues.

The Under 13 Blues were another side fighting for honours in midweek. However, their chances of a top two finish in Division One were ended following a 6-2 loss against Swindon Supermarine J. James Johnson and Matthew Purcell scored Bassett's consolation goals.
