Under 13 Blues are record breakers

Sunday 5th February 2017

Royal Wootton Bassett Town Under 13 Blues inflicted Swindon Supermarine J's first league defeat of the season with a stunning 6-4 victory away from home.

Having narrowly triumphed 5-4 last week, Bassett again emerged victorious from a high scoring thriller. The scores were level at 2-2 at the interval, but the visitors pulled away in the second half to bring Supermarine's unbeaten streak to an end after eight games.

Otis Lewis struck a hat-trick for Bassett, while James Johnson netted a brace and James Johnson a single goal.

While they remain third in the league, Bassett are now just a point behind Supermarine, with three points separating them and Division One leaders FC Chippenham White with four games to go.

They were the only victors for Bassett on what was a quiet weekend of fixtures.

The Under 12 Blues picked up a point in a goalless draw against Lydiard Millicent Juniors, though the failure to pick up all three leaves Bassett a point behind leaders Wroughton Youth Blue in Division Three.

The Under 12 Yellows were involved in a tight affair at home against Oaksey, but fell to a 3-2 defeat. Goals for Bassett were scored by James Humphrey and Alexander Roberts.

Meanwhile the Under 16 Yellows were unable to stop runaway league leaders Tetbury Youth who prevailed 3-0 in their meeting.

There was a heavy 7-1 defeat for the Under 15 Blues against Swindon Youth, with Nathaniel Bell grabbing Bassett's consolation goal.
