Safeguarding Children Policy

In light of recent news stories relating to youth football, Royal Wootton Bassett Town would like to reaffirm to all its commitment and responsibility to safeguarding the welfare of every child and young person entrusted to its care.

We acknowledge that every child or young person who plays or participates in football should be able to take part in an enjoyable and safe environment and be protected from poor practice and abuse.

We recgonise that this is the responsibility of every adult involved in our club.

As a Charter Standard Community Club, all managers and coaches are FA qualified and hold valid CRB certification.

The club also has a Welfare Officer - Derek Edgington, who works in line with The Football Association's role profile and has completed the Safeguarding Children and Welfare Officers Workshop.

Anyone worried about a child should report their concerns immediately to Derek. He can be contacted by email or by phone on 07964 067042.

The Wiltshire FA also have a Welfare Officer. Shirley Needham performs this role and be contacted by email or by phone on 01793 486047. Shirley is based in the County FA office on Mondays and Tuesdays.
