FA release new concussion guidelines

Wednesday 25th November 2015

Coaches and parents are strongly encouraged to read The FA's new concussion guidelines.

According to these, footballers who sustain a suspected concussion, either during training or in a game, should immediately be removed from the pitch and not allowed to return, until the appropriate treatment has been administered.

The guide has been formulated in consultation with The FA's Expert Panel on Concussion and Head Injury and is based on evidence and best practice from around the world.

It is designed for those who manage head injuries in professional and grassroots football - from clubs and schools, to parents and doctors.

Included in the guide are details on what concussion is, how to recognise signs of concussion and what should be done to manage suspected concussion both immediately after a head trauma and in the days following.
