We are Royal

Wednesday 1st July 2015

It was four years ago that our town was granted royal patronage. And now, to coincide with the move into our new facility, Wootton Bassett Town Football Club is adding Royal to its name.

From this day onwards, we'll therefore be known as Royal Wootton Bassett Town Football Club.

It was always the plan for the Sports Association's members to adopt the title in the year in which they finally moved into their new home. The change means that the association, its four member clubs - cricket, tennis, running and football - along with Bassett's rugby club have all now adopted the name to reflect the town's status.

Obviously this change has required an update to the football club's badge to incorporate the new title. And we have used this opportunity to modernise the crest - albeit in a modest fashion to preserve its traditional look - with a new font and crisp, fresher style.

Additionally we now have a new-looking website with an updated address - rwbtfc.co.uk; there's no desperate need to update any favourites lists, however, as those visiting the old wbtfc.co.uk address will be re-directed to the new one. On Twitter, we can now be found at @rwbtfc too.

With a new name, new badge and new ground, an exciting chapter in the club's history has begun!
