Bassett come back to beat Hungerford

-, Saturday 20th September 2025

The Under 13s faced Hungerford Toen for the second time in a row on Saturday, and the team knew that the opposing side would be looking for revenge after suffering a defeat to Bassett the previous week.

Hungerford started strong and bagged an early goal straight away from a tap in at the end of a great save from keeper Bassett Ella.

However, Bassett didn't give up, and minutes later, Chloe Guppy fired the ball into the back of the net from the edge of the box, showing great determination.

Both teams fought hard to get ahead before half time, but the blues dominated, creating chance after chance.

At one point, Christina Croft made a lovely, darting run with the ball, weaving in and out of players. She took the ball past the keeper, and devastatingly saw her shot hit the post.

However, she got her goal soon after with a great strike that the Hungerford keeper had no chance of stopping.

The second half was goalless, but both teams battled hard.

Bassett had a scare when Hungerford hit the inside of the post, coming close to equalising, but managed to hang on until the final whistle.

The game finished 2-1, with Christina Croft getting player of the match for being consistently good and for never giving up.
