Lessons learnt in narrow lose to Brunel Boys

Wootton Bassett started off the game, with the same determination as the previous game and went close early on, with clear cut chances for Alex Taylor and Daniel Hewitt-Dean hitting the post from 6 yards.

After 20 minutes Brunel Boys started to threaten Bassett's goal, but all went easily wide. The breakthrough came late in the first half, with a good ball from defence into the path of Martyn Plaistow, who neatly with his left foot, put the ball into the path of Alex Taylor and after what seemed an age, he put the ball into the bottom corner.

With the first half closing, Brunel Boys had one more attack, where it seemed our defence had cleared the ball, but it fell kindly to a Brunel Boy player, who scored into the top corner from outside of the box.

The second half started well for Bassett with some good chances from Daniel Hewitt-Dean and Alex Taylor who hit the crossbar. As the game wore on, Brunel Boys grew in confidence, due to still being in the game and started to put more pressure on Bassett's goal, with Simon Rendlesome for Bassett making some good saves.

It looked as if the game would end in a 1-1 draw, but in the dying minutes, a lack of concentration saw Brunel Boys, undeservedly take all three points, when a mix up in the goal area saw the ball trickled pass a despairing keeper.

I believe we should have easily won the game and this is a good lesson for the lads that you must work and concentrate for the full 80 minutes.
