Bassett continue to battle away despite another heavy loss

On a very cold morning Melksham Town very kindly agreed to play six aside, as Wootton Bassett was hit by team illness and could only muster six players. Despite this Wootton Bassett battled very hard for the first twenty minutes and had a few goal attempts. However, ten minutes to half-time and Melksham Town got through the Wootton Bassett's defences and scored their first goal. Then close on half-time they scored again.

In the second half, after 15 minutes, despite some good saves from the Wootton Bassett goalie, the Bassett team was subjected to a run of goals which finally ended up with the score Wootton Bassett 0 and Melksham Town 8. The Melksham Town goal scorers were Mel Patterson 3, Shannon Davis 4 and Kirsty Ridewood 1. The Wootton Bassett team had given their all the whole match, especially as there were no substitutes, but the 'Girl of the Match' for Wootton Bassett was Isobel Finegan, who played boldly in midfield and also defended well when necessary.
