Game ends without a goal, just

This match was a very tight affair throughout as Bassett visited a side who had only lost once in the last eighteen months, that one defeat having only recently taken place at the hands of Wroughton. In a match in which the two defences dominated. Bassett's back two of William McCurrach and Daniel Strange kept Stratton's prolific striker Nick Peare quiet all game. When the defence were beaten goalkeeper, Simon Anderton pulled off a series of fine saves to keep the home side out. In the end Bassett just about hung on for the draw and could have won the match in the closing moments when a chance fell to Matt Purse, but his shot went over the bar. A Bassett win would not have been a fair result on the balance of play, but Bassett deserved their draw for the defensive hard work they put in throughout the match.
