Bassett struggle on big pitch

Bassett lost their third consecutive match against what proved to be a very strong Ferndale Rodbourne side in this hastily arranged friendly. The main difference between the two sides was the Ferndale striker Josh Henshall who helped himself to at least three of the goals, Bassett played some good passing football with Matthew Purse, Phil Tearle and Nathan Douglas linking up well but Bassett once again lacked penetration going forward. Ferndale had a couple of useful defenders in Lee Moulton and Ryan Hynes and Bassett rarely threatened the Ferndale goalkeeper. The match was played on a pitch somewhat larger than that which Bassett are used to and their opponents made good use of the available space. Bassett tired as the game entered its closing stages and once again the team seemed to lack the fitness displayed by their opponents. Phil Tearle scored Bassett's only goal. Hopefully the side will secure a much-needed confidence boosting win when they travel to Watchfield this weekend.
