Girls’ Section Review: Deserved three points for the Under 14s!

Wednesday 10th December 2025

Royal Wootton Bassett Town Under 14s were the only competitive girls side to play this weekend, where they faced FC Abbey Meads Purple for the third time this season.

The game was tight and gritty, with Bassett battling against the wind in the first half.

The girls were resilient in defence, with keeper Chloe pulling off some superb saves.

The Blues started to create their own chances, but neither team could find the back of the net and went into the break 0-0.

It was Eryn who first broke the deadlock, pouncing on a loose save from the keeper and firing the ball home.

Bassett took the lead, but Abbey Meads were looking threatening, and the girls knew it was important to extend their lead.

The second came through Mia Hughes, who shifted the ball onto her right foot and blasted it top corner, sealing a 2-0 win.

The team thoroughly deserved the ther points - in particular Elise and Ava, who were awarded players of the match. Ava was great in her league debut and Elise had a strong game in defence.
