The North Wilts Youth Football League is supporting the Silent Support Weekend which is taking place from the 15th to the 16th of November.
The initiative will therefore be taking place at ALL Royal Wootton Bassett Town youth and girls section fixtures this weekend.
The Silent Support Weekend 2025 is a nationwide initiative organised by The Football Association, during which grassroots youth football leagues across England are invited to temporarily mute the usual sideline shouting and instead focus on positive support. This is to give young players space to make their own decisions, communicate on the pitch, and simply enjoy their game.
The aim of Silent Support Weekend is to reduce unnecessary pressure from the touchline and create an environment where players can develop without distraction. Spectators are encouraged to applaud good play, while coaches can offer quiet encouragement. But the common pattern of constant instruction and commentary from the sidelines is set aside for the weekend.
By promoting this culture of respectful, constructive support, the weekend seeks to foster better behaviour, enhance enjoyment, and help clubs, coaches, parents and players align around a shared goal: football being fun, fair, and developmental for everyone involved.
All coaches, parents and supporters are therefore kindly asked to abide by the above instructions.
We thank you in advance for your cooperation!
