Under 12 Blues rue missed chances

Royal Wootton Bassett Town Under 12 Blue will be rueing missed chances as they lost the opportunity to extend their unbeaten run to four games, losing 3 -1 at home to Hungerford Town Juniors Black.

Despite dominating possession and chances in the first half Bassett entered the half time break trailing 2-0 after Hungerford goals from a free kick and close range had given them the lead. Bassett will feel this was not reflective of a first half where Cameron Iles, Caden Jefferies and Ed Greenouff all had excellent chances to score.

Bassett started the second half strongly with Joshua Sturmey denied by a last gasp tackle in the opening seconds. The deficit was reduced to one after Sam Smith capped his man of the match performance with a spectacular right footed strike from distance.

Bassett pushed for the equaliser but the lead was restored with a neatly taken Hungerford goal with ten minutes left which Hungerford held on to in order to secure the win.

Next week's home game against Malmesbury Youth will be crucial in order to avoid anxious glances toward the bottom quarter of the table.
