The club has restructured its Community Football programme, which ran successfully over the last few seasons, taking on board a newly acquired partnership with Advanced Sports Coaching Ltd by creating a Soccer Skills Academy.
Started in January 2012, the Soccer Skills Academy initiative will be run under the RWBTFC banner, with coaching sessions led by members of Advanced Sports Coaching. Working within the local community, the coaching will be aimed at boys and girls of all abilities from three years old all the way through to those in school year 10.
The emphasis of the sessions will be on maximum ball contact time, healthy development, learning new skills - both football and social, and - most importantly of all - having fun.
There will also be the opportunity to progress into the Wiltshire Football Academy system, while it is hoped that the youngest players will continue their football with Bassett and form one to two under 7 and 8 feeder teams for the youth section.
Soccer Skills Academy run weekly sessions on a Monday night on the 3G pitch at the New Gerard Buxton Sports Ground, which cost £25 per calendar month (or £35 per calendar month for two or more children from the same family).
Footy Tots sessions (for those aged 3 through to school reception year) take place from 5 - 5.45pm. Sessions for those in school years one to two take place from 5-6pm, while those for boys and girls from years 3 through 10 take place from 6 - 7pm.
The Soccer Skills Academy is also looking to welcome more boys and girls who will be entering reception year at school next year. It is then planned for this cohort to form the club’s Under 7s for the 2018-19 season.
Session times for Mondays are as follows:
To apply for the Soccer Skills Academy, please complete the 'Request a free taster session' form on the homepage of the Advanced Sports Coaching website.
Each school holiday Soccer Skills Academy runs football fun week holiday clubs, allowing participants to experience a coaching programme across 4 or 5 days. These fun weeks allow us to further develop players' skills learnt at their own team sessions and on the Monday evening sessions. The aim of these sessions is to make new friends from other schools, have fun and learn new skills through games, competitions and matches.
At the end of the course each participant leaves with a memento of their time on the course and there are lots of prizes and trophies to be handed out.
The fun weeks are again open to boys and girls of all abilities aged 5 to 15.
The next holiday sessions to be run will take place on the following days:
