Weekend preview: Women aim for St Vallier double as Men face Fairford

Tuesday 4th February 2025

Royal Wootton Bassett Town have the opportunity to secure a South West Regional Women's Football League Division One North season double over St Vallier on Sunday - and with it take a significant step towards a top four finish.

The two teams meet at the Sustain Stadium (2pm kick off).

Adam Wood's side - fresh off a 3-0 win away at Stockwood Wanderers- will be confident of securing victory too, having triumphed 6-2 in the reverse fixture against St Vallier.

Admission on Sunday is £4 for adults, £2 for concessions and free for RWBTFC youth members.

On Saturday there's another important away derby for the Men's First Team as Sam Collier and his squad visit fellow Hellenic League Premier Division playoff contenders Fairford Town (3pm kick off).

Fairford currently sit three points ahead of Bassett. With games running out and after last week's loss to Malmesbury Victoria, avoiding defeat is therefore imperative for Bassett.

The Reds were convincing 3-0 winners when the teams met in their opening game of the season at the end of July.

Also on Saturday the Development team are in home action against Melksham Town Reserves in the Wiltshire League Premier Division (Sustain Stadium, 2pm kick off).

Mark Simpkins' side will be seeking to continue their good run of form - and avenge for a 3-2 away defeat against Melksham in October.

Admission on Saturday is £4 for adults, £2 for concessions and free for RWBTFC youth members.
