Congratulations to club Community Football Officer Mark Ellis and the Wildcats Girls' Football Centre coaching team for receiving a Highly Commended award at the 2023 Charlton Baker Wiltshire FA Grassroots Excellence Awards!
The recognition is fully deserved with the club's Wildcats centre continuing to go from strength to strength.
Free, open to all girls aged 5 to 11 and run weekly on Saturday mornings from 9 to 10am on the AGP pitch at the Gerard Buxton Sports Ground, Bassett's Wildcats sessions attract strong numbers each week, allowing girls the opportunity to develop their skills and to be inspired to be involved in football.
And the success of the sessions is shown by the strong growth in the club's Women's and Girls' Section, with five girls' teams (Under 7s, 9s, 11s, 12s and 14s) due to run next season, with many of the players in those sides having gained vital support through Wildcats football.
Congratulations also go to Marlborough Youth, who were winners in this category.
The Charlton Baker Wiltshire FA Grassroots Football Excellence Awards recognise and celebrate the people who put their heart and soul into the grassroots game across the county. This year, 19 awards were available, ten from England Football - with the winners proceeding to be nominated for national awards - and an additional nine from Wiltshire FA sponsors Charlton Baker. The awards are split into categories with nominations made by members of the football community and winners determined by a select judging panel.
