Provisional Wiltshire Senior League constitutions announced

Monday 30th May 2022

The draft constitution for the 2022-23 Wiltshire Senior League was published on Thursday, with the likely opponents announced for Royal Wootton Bassett Town's Development, Under 18 Floodlit and Veterans Over 35 teams.

Development team

Bassett will be entering the 2022-23 season as reigning Wiltshire Senior League Premier Division champions. Keeping hold of that crown will be a tough ask though - particularly in a division containing opponents that are likely to be even stronger.

The competition, whose constitution has been approved by the Wiltshire FA and submitted to the FA Leagues Committee for their approval - is due to feature 16 teams. This is down one from the 17 who competed in 2021-22.

Set to join the competition are Blunsdon, Devizes Town and Kintbury Rangers. Blunsdon have been promoted after finishing as undefeated champions of the Swindon and District League Premier Division. Kintbury return to the division from Hellenic League Division Two South, where they finished second in 2021-22. Devizes, meanwhile, suffered relegation from Western League Division One.

That trio of sides replace Devizes Town Reserves, Purton and Ludgershall Sports - who are all set to feature in a newly formed Division One, while Corsham Town Development have withdrawn from the league.

The full provisional constitution for the 2022-23 Wiltshire Senior League Premier Division is as follows:

Blunsdon
Calne Town Reserves
Devizes Town
Frome Collegians
Kintbury Rangers
Malmesbury Victoria Development
Marlborough Town
Melksham Town Reserves
Odd Down Reserves
Pewsey Vale
Royal Wootton Bassett Town Development
Salisbury Development
Shrewton United
Stratton Juniors
Trowbridge Town
Wroughton

Under 18 Floodlit

After a runners-up finish this year, Royal Wootton Bassett Town's Under 18 side will be aiming to go one better in the Wiltshire League Floodlit Division during the 2022-23 campaign.

The division is set to be expanded too, with 12 teams in all - up four on the number who competed in 2021-22.

The full provisional constitution is as follows:

AFC Aldermaston
Bishops Cannings
Calne Town
Devizes Town
Kingsdown Lions
Melksham Town
Newbury Procision
New College Swindon
Pewsey Vale
Radstock Town
Royal Wootton Bassett Town
Warminster Town

Veterans team

Bassett's Over 35s Veterans side finished their 2021-22 Wiltshire Senior League North Division campaign in third place out of nine sides.

Currently they are due to take on seven other teams in 2022-23, with Blunsdon coming in and Priory Vale and South Cerney Rangers set to withdraw.

The full provisional constitution is as follows:

AFC Swindon
Blunsdon
Cricklade Town
Redhouse
Royal Wootton Bassett Town
Stratton Juniors
Swindon Old Boys
Swindon Rovers
