Bounce back wins for Under 12 Girls and Under 16 Blues

Royal Wootton Bassett Town's Under 12 Girls and Under 16 Blue sides made amends for recent losses this weekend as they both recorded impressive victories.

On Saturday a Bethany Humphrey brace helped the Under 12 Girls to a 2-1 victory - Bassett's first win since February - against Kingsdown Lions. Humphrey ultimately made sure her side claimed all three points and remained in second place in the Wiltshire County Women's and Girls' League Division One, keeping her nerve to coolly score from the penalty spot.

Then on Sunday the Under 16 Blues saw off Melksham Town Hurricanes 6-3 in their final game of the season to make certain of a fourth place finish in North Wilts League Division One. Samuel Case (2), Rhys Matthew Westlake (2), James Dorsett and Rosevel Ribeiro were all on target for Bassett, ensuring that their opponents Melksham are unable to leapfrog Bassett in their remaining fixture.

Sunday's contest had become a must win game after a 6-2 midweek loss away at champions Cirencester Town Centurions - a game in which Samuel Bounds and Jayden Wilson scored. But Bassett stepped up when the pressure was on to seal an impressive finish in Division One in their first season after gaining promotion.

Elsewhere on Sunday, the Under 14 Blues fell to eighth in North Wilts League Division Two following a 5-2 defeat against Lydiard Millicent Juniors, a result which had a followed a 4-2 midweek loss against Cirencester Town. Despite slipping a place in the table, in an extremely tight mid table pack Bassett could still theoretically finish as high as third depending on results from their final two games.
