Seven of Royal Wootton Bassett Town's twelve youth section sides engaged in competitive action were victorious this past weekend. Among them were the Under 14 Blue and Yellow sides who recorded important, confidence-boosting wins and the Under 16 Blues who advanced to the North Wilts League Cup quarter finals.

Going into their visit to Ashton Keynes Youth, the Under 14 Yellows were yet to taste victory this season. However, they changed that with an emphatic 8-1 triumph that lifts them off the bottom of North Wilts League Division Four.

Though the Under 14 Blues had already registered one win, that came in their opening game of the season. But after three straight defeats, they bounced back with a 4-1 win at FC Abbey Meads Youth Blue in Division Two. Leon Hudson led the way for Bassett with a brace, while Alex Bell and Charlie Hancock were also on target.

Also winning in their league fixtures were the Under 18 Blue, Under 15 Blue, Under 12 Yellow and Under 12 Girls sides.

The Under 18 Blues edged out Malmesbury Victoria Development 4-3 in an entertaining contest. After initially falling behind, Bassett eventually emerged victorious thanks to goals from Harry Farrow, Rhys Farrow, Jowan Partridge and Euan Spackman.

Video of the goals from that game are available to view on this page.

A more straightforward 5-0 win against Wims 11 Foothills saw the Under 15 Blues keep in touch with the top sides in Division Two. They triumphed courtesy of goals from Beau Hicks (2), Parker Fisher, Finley Lavender and Finlay Marshall.

In Division Five, the Under 12 Yellows remain second after a 9-1 win away against Liden Community Titans. Hotshot Aleks Goralczyk scored five times, with Jake Berry, Daisy Bundy, and Stanley Lockley also on target.

That was Daisy Bundy's second game of the weekend in which she had scored after she netted twice for the Under 12 Girls in a 5-3 win against Bishops Cannings Youth Dragonflies on Saturday. Lillian Newbury also netted a brace, with Bethany Humphrey grabbing Bassett's other goal.

Also victorious this weekend were the Under 16 Blues. They advanced to the last eight of the North Wilts League Cup by seeing off Ferndale Rodbourne YCFC 2-0. They will visit Kingsdown Youth Lions in the next round on Sunday 23 January.

While not managing victory, the Under 13 Blues picked up a valuable point against fellow Division One high-flyers Robins. Theo Slade scored for Bassett in a 1-1 draw.

Elsewhere, four sides suffered defeat.

Joseph Simpkins was on target for the Under 16 Yellows in a 3-1 away loss at Stratton Juniors Tigers.

In their clash with league leaders Blunsdon Youth the Under 13 Yellows were beaten 4-2. Fynn Crone and Yusuf Guloglu found the net for Bassett.

Goals from Alex Greenouff (2) and Mason Brooks were not enough for the Under 12 Blues as they lost by the odd goal in seven away at Stratton Youth Blue.

Meanwhile, exiting the cup were the Under 18 Yellows who performed extremely well against higher level opponents Lydiard Millicent Juniors before ultimately losing 5-3. Jacob Rendell-Haines scored a hat trick for Bassett.
