Under 15 Blues’ Fisher makes Kingsdown pay the price

Building on their opening league victory last weekend, Royal Wootton Bassett Town Under 15 Blues secured success in the first round of the North Wilts League Cup as they saw off Kingsdown Lions 2-0.

A goal in each half from Parker Fisher saw Bassett book their place in the second round with a victory that, were it not for profligacy in front of goal, could have been earned by an even bigger margin.

The Under 18s progressed to the second round of the North Wilts League Cup too. Bouncing back from last weekend's County Cup loss, they defeated FC Chippenham Youth Blue 4-2 thanks to goals from Max McCrae (2), Harry Farrow and Archie Mannix.

Also victorious this weekend were the Under 13 Blue and 13 Yellow teams, who both secured league wins.

Yusuf Guloglu was on fine form for the Yellows as he scored four goals in an 8-1 Division Four triumph away against Highworth Town Juniors J. Fynn Crone (2) and William Moreton completed the scoring.

The Blues racked up the goals in their Division One contest against Ramsbury Youth as well. Phanuel Asenso and Sonny Parmaku both found the net twice, while Karol Czekanski and William Smith grabbed a goal each as their side won 6-1.

In Division Five, the Under 12 Yellows recorded a big first win of the season as they saw off Wims 11 Calgary 7-1. Aleksander Goralczyk led the way with four goals, with the scoring completed by Liam Cook, Stanley Lockley and an own goal.

Elsewhere there were defeats for Bassett's two other Under 12 teams as well as the Under 14 Yellows and Under 16 Blues.

Playing their first ever competitive fixture, the Under 12 Girls played out a hugely entertaining game away against Stratton Juniors Panthers. Although Daisy Bundy and Poppy Henderson were on target, they lost a nailbiter by the odd goal in five.

The Under 12 Blues also missed out by a single goal, falling to a 4-3 Division Two defeat against Croft Junior Red. Mason Brooks (2) and Alex Greenouff scored for Bassett.

Another close contest saw the Under 16 Blues edged out 5-3 by Kingsdown Lions Vikings in their Wiltshire County Cup first round encounter. Scoring for Bassett were Reuben Badman (2) and Rhys Westlake.

In league action, Danny Harris scored the Under 14 Yellow side's only goal in a 4-1 defeat away against Cricklade Youth.
