Coronavirus Update: Updated Risk Assessment and Method Statement

Tuesday 10th August 2021

Royal Wootton Bassett Town have published an updated version of its Covid-19 Risk Assessment and Method Statement (RAMS).

The updated document covers guidance issued in relation to the move into step four of the government's roadmap from Monday 19 July.

While all legal restrictions that the government have previously imposed have now been lifted, it is vital that these procedures are adhered to for the sake of all our members, opposing teams, their families and the wider local community in order to limit the spread of the virus. Football activities will therefore continue to take place according to The FA and Government guidelines.

The RAMS document can be found here.

It is essential that all coaches, players, parents/guardians/carers and supporters take time to read this document. No coach or player must attend any training session or take part in a match unless they have read and understood the controls that are required. It is also necessary for coaches, players and parents/guardians/carers to have signed the RAMS form.

The RAMS document includes vital information, including:

  • A copy of the QR code that can be used with the NHS Covid 19 contact tracing app;
  • An assessment of risks related to maintaining social distancing, the site and buildings, equipment, health and wellbeing, and travelling, and the measures put in place to mitigate against these;
  • How training sessions and matches will take place safely in a way that reduces and minimises the risk of Covid-19 transmission;
  • What is expected of coaches;
  • What is expected of players;
  • What is expected of parents / guardians / carers;
  • Rules on whether spectators are able to attend games;
  • Rules governing the use of changing rooms
  • Procedures that will be in place should a person become unwell with Covid-19 symptoms;
  • Control measures will be monitored and audited on a regular basis.

    Within the updated RAMS, notable points of emphasis include:

    Continued encouragement to follow good practice

    While all legal restrictions on contact have now been removed, Royal Wootton Bassett Town requests that players, coaches and spectators continue to follow good practice in order to help minimise the spread of the virus.

    All individuals should continue to self-assess for symptoms. Anyone showing symptoms, or who is living in a household where somebody is showing symptoms, must not attend the site and instead should get tested.

    Players and coaches for the club's adult teams are advised to test themselves 48 hours before any game that takes place. Others who are attending the site are also advised to regularly test themselves using free lateral flow tests available from the NHS.

    When travelling to and from matches, car sharing is allowed. However, this must be kept to small groups comprising the same people, while face coverings should be worn.

    Changing rooms are now open. However, their use should be kept to a minimum, while face coverings should be worn when inside. Although youth changing rooms are open too, players are asked to arrive fully changed and ready to play.

    Spectators are advised to continue to follow social distancing rules - both within the stadium pitch as well as on outside pitches.

    NHS Track and Trace QR Code reminder

    It is requested that any visitors to the Gerard Buxton Sports Ground continue to complete Track and Trace. This can be done via the NHS Covid Contact Tracing App by scanning the QR code below.
