Friday 23rd April 2021

In a busy week of action for Royal Wootton Bassett Town's youth section sides that saw games on Sunday and in midweek, Leo Bagley and his Under 13 Yellow side stood out for their successes.

Bagley scored eight goals across two victories that his team recorded against Ashton Keynes Youth as they jumped into a share of third place in North Wilts League Division Four.

Alongside Bagley's four goal haul, Daniel King (2) and Aaron Seal registered in a 7-1 home win on Sunday before King and Jackson Brown complemented their team's leading scorr in a 6-2 triumph away on Wednesday.

Elsewhere, there were other notable successes for Bassett's sides

Under 12 Blue

Also winning twice were the Under 12 Blues, who moved up to second in North Wilts League Division Two.

They edged out Swindon Supermarine Youth Blue 4-2 in an important match on Sunday. Phanuel Asenso's brace and further strikes from Sonny Parmaku and Elliott Tew helped Bassett remain above their opponents in the table.

Another side who could have leapfrogged Bassett were then seen off on Wednesday as Wims 11 Foothills were defeated 5-1. Liam Lye-Owens netted twice, with Karol Czekanski, Summer Jones and William Smith making sure the final score was a convincing one.

Although a difficult task, they have four games in hand over leaders Ramsbury Youth and will go level on points if they win in all four.

Under 12 Yellow

The Under 12 Yellows were a third Bassett side to register a double.

On Sunday, Yusuf Guloglu (2) and William Moreton (2) paved the way for a 4-2 win at Stratton Youth Blue.

Then in midweek Fynn Crone (4) spearheaded a 6-2 triumph against Wims 11 Calgary. Thomas Hyde and William Pegler completed the scoring as those six points took the Yellows up to seventh in Division Four.

Under 15 Blue

Finley Smith was another player in amongst the goals this week, netting six times across the Under 15 Blue side's pair of games. On Sunday they drew 2-2 away against Cricklade Youth before a 5-1 midweek victory against Wroughton Youth Panthers extended their unbeaten run to five games.

Those results mean the Blues are in the mix for the Division Two title having now reached the season's halfway point.

Under 16 Yellow

The Under 16 Yellows were big winners on Sunday as they defeated Purton Youth 11-0.

Samuel Warner led the way with four goals, while there was a brace for Harvey Watkinson and further goals from Edward Aitken, Callum King, Akash Lamtari, Taiga Matsushima and Joey Warren. Bassett remain in mid-table in Division Four.

Under 13 Blue

With Sunday off, the Under 13 Blues were well rested for their midweek encounter with Lydiard Youth. And they earned a point in a 2-2 draw thanks to goals from Charlie Hancock and Lewis Osbaldeston.

Under 16 Blue

Charlie Hudson's goal was not enough as the Under 16 Blues fell to an agonising 2-1 loss away against Ferndale Rodbourne YCFC on Sunday.

Under 14 Yellow

Finley Lavender found the net for the Under 14 Yellows in their 8-1 loss away at Marlborough Youth Falcons on Sunday.
