Youth section members from years gone by can now relive their playing days thanks to the addition of a huge volume of material to the archive section of our website.

Over the past few weeks, club President Mark Smedley has worked his way through backup of historic versions of the club website, covering the period from the 2002-03 season through to the 2007-08 campaign. These backups contained team photographs as well as match reports, which had previously not been transferred to the club's extensive archive on the current version of the website.

In all, close to 1,100 match reports for various teams have been added as well as around 60 team pictures. This includes reports from a number of cup runs for our youth section sides that resulted in cup final appearances, as well as many other highlights.

The material covers the season when a very young Scott Twine – now firing in goals for Newport County on loan from Swindon Town – scored over 120 times in a single campaign for Bassett, the club with which he began his football journey.

Also included are reports from matches in which current top referee Mitchell Terry seemed to pick up numerous man-of-the-match awards playing for his Bassett side – evidence that the best referees are perhaps the ones that could also play the game!

Many match reports prepared by current chairman Andy Walduck have also been uploaded.

It has been possible to determine the likely identities of those writing many of the reports. However, in certain instances the source of the match report has not been possible to identify. In such instances, the author is shown as 'unknown'. Please do get in touch with Mark by email if you recognise your words and we will amend the credit for the reports accordingly.

In addition to these photos and reports, PDF copies of first team matchday programmes from the 1992-93 and 2001-02 seasons have been added to the website, all of which contain lots of reports on youth section action.

Included in the 1992-93 programmes are details of club legend Shaun Terry racking up the goals for that season's Under 14 side.

Once you have clicked on a relevant season, you can select details of which team you would like to view. Details of goalscorers and links to match reports, if available, will then be shown by clicking on the 'Results' tab.

If a team photo is missing for a particular side for a given season and you happen to possess such a photo, we would gratefully appreciate it if these could be shared with Mark Smedley via email.
