Ever-presents and defensive ace steal show at Ladies presentation

Hayley Huckin and Amber Egerton, two of five Royal Wootton Bassett Town Ladies players to have featured in every game during the shortened 2019-20 season, and rising star Lara Wilson were rewarded for outstanding seasons at their side's virtual presentation evening.

Huckin, who fired 22 goals in sixteen games, was named Manager's Player of the Year. The prolific forward's clinical finishing proved crucial for Bassett during a season – their first in the South West Regional Women's Football League Premier Division – in which the side recorded a number of narrow victories.

Meanwhile, Egerton and Wilson shared the Players' Player of the Year award.

The long-serving Egerton featured in all sixteen games, notching two goals and providing a number of assists, all the while proving, again, to be a consistently reliable performer despite the step up in level.

Playing twelve times and quickly establishing herself as a fixture in the starting eleven, Wilson adjusted seamlessly to senior women's football. In a campaign in which Bassett were subjected to many more competitive fixtures than they have perhaps been subjected to in recent years, it was necessary for the defence to step up. And Wilson was the leading light in a backline that conceded just fourteen times in the nine league fixtures they played.

The presentation concluded with Steve Green picking up the team's Clubperson of the Year prize. A regular feature at Bassett's Ladies fixtures, he has provided the team with excellent support while also taking photographs which have been posted on the club's Facebook page.
