Under 12 Whites off the mark

Wednesday 11th December 2019

The weekend saw, again, a multitude of goals, but little celebration, aside from for the Under 12 Whites. Check out a round-up of the latest youth section action here.

Under 12s

Congratulations to the Under 12 Whites, who finally earned their first point this season! At home to Cricklade Youth, they drew 2-2. Ilan Castle and Robert Gregory were their goal scorers in a well-fought match up. Despite retaining their spot at the bottom of the league, their fight this weekend could spark a first win of the year next week!

Their siblings, the Under 12 Blue and Yellows teams, suffered losses this weekend though.

The Under 12 Blue squad suffered a very narrow defeat on foreign soil as Highworth Town Junior T were victorious by two goals to one. Oliver Smith made the headlines with the only goal for his team. Meanwhile, Ferndale Rodbourne YCFC were victorious against the Yellows on Bassett's home ground. They won 3-1. Daniel King was the only scorer for the Yellows - this puts him up to 6th top goal scorer in North Wilts League Division Four.

Under 13s

The Under 13 Yellows suffered another defeat this weekend. Despite a heroic victory in the home fixture, Marlborough Youth Falcons were victorious this time around as they beat Bassett 8-2. Finlay Marshall was on the scoresheet with both of Bassett's goals to his name. Coach Dan Carey reflected: "The pitch was inadequate, and the result portrayed the conditions very well. Once again, like Josh Carey (Manager) says each week, we won in all but one position. That was in attack. If we had taken our chances before they did, the game would have been ours." Marshall's two goals secured his spot as third top goal scorer in Division Four, with a total tally of 18 goals in 12 games.

Under 14s

The Under 14 Yellows lost 4-2 away from home against FC Chippenham Youth Warriors, despite goals from Reuben Badman and Lewis Taylor. Meanwhile, the under 14 Whites lost 3-0 at home to Lydiard Youth Vikings, despite a heroically fought battle.

Under 15s

The Under 15 Blues were given a large beating of 8-1 away from home against Cirencester Town Centurions. Joseph Rouse was again on the scoresheet as he was the only scorer for Bassett in this fixture.

Their siblings, the Under 15 Yellows suffered a similar defeat this weekend. They were beaten at home 6-1 by North Swindon Lions.

Under 16s

The Under 16 Blues suffered a rare defeat to drop three points this weekend. They were beaten 3-0 on home ground versus Division One pacesetters Laverstock and Ford.

Under 18s

The Under 18 Yellows suffered a loss this weekend away from home against Cricklade Youth. Two goals from Charlie Humphries did not suffice as they were beaten narrowly 3-2. Despite dropping three points for the second time this season, Bassett retained their spot in second place in Division Two.
