100% record retained for Under 18 Yellows

Monday 7th October 2019

Royal Wootton Bassett Town Under 18 Yellow are still undefeated in North Wilts League Division 2! Their record now stands at played four and won four as yesterday they were victorious over Fairford Town Development.

The Yellows won 4-2 on foreign soil. Noah Beech netted twice to make his personal record three goals for the season. Elsewhere in the squad, mini-maestro Callum Flay netted once to boost his tally to five. Adam Jones completed the scoring with his second of the season.

Along with the Under 16 Yellows, they are now the only team with a 100% record left battling in the competitive part of the club's youth section.

Cup action dismisses three youth teams.

Three of the nine competitive teams that played this weekend were dismissed from their cup duties of this season with high marginal score-lines.

The Under 13 Blue side were given an 11-0 beating by Division One FC Abbey Meads Youth Grey. Manager Martin Jefferies described the performance as FC Abbey Meads "brushing aside their opposition." This all comes as a shock end to their "heroic cup run", as Jefferies described it. His full report is on their section of the website.

Secondly, it was the Under 14 Yellow team that were also knocked out of the running for the cup, as they were defeated 6-2 on home soil by Bradford Town Youth Mustangs. Goals from Pierre Storey and Patrick Otoo-Mensah were no match for the Mustangs' attacking threat.

The Under 14 Blues also suffered a cup defeat at home. Cirencester Town Youth Centurions were victorious over them by an 8-2. Samuel Bounds and James Dorset were on target for Bassett but it wasn't their day this time around.

In league action, the Under 12 Blue side suffered defeat at home versus Melksham Town Youth Hurricanes. A Josh Seaton goal proved to be no match for Melksham's strong squad, who racked up eight goals.

Sibling side, the Under 12 Yellows fell to defeat away as they were beaten 7-2 by Fairford Youth. Brandon Jack and Daniel King secured spots on the scoresheet, however their goals were not worthy enough for a win this time around.

The Under 12 Whites finally got their goal-scoring off to a start this weekend despite being beaten 8-2 at home against FC Abbey Meads Youth Orange. Danny Harris bagged a brace for Bassett - hopefully, these two goals can give the squad some confidence moving forward in their campaign this season!

The Under 13 Yellows entered the weekend hoping to secure a back-to-back win following last week's heroic comeback from 4-1 to win 8-4. However South Cerney were too used to their pitch conditions after a long week of rain and Bassett were beaten 8-1. Finlay Marshall netted in the last minute to secure his ninth goal from five games. Manager Josh Carey described the game to be "A game of two very different halves. The first reflected the score line fairly. However we deserved another win after a strong performance in the second half."

Sibling side, the Under 14 Whites suffered the same fate at home to Stratton Juniors FC Tigers. They were beaten a ferocious 8-0 by the visitors!

That is another weekend of football come to an end. Again, some good goals have been scored but it hasn't been Bassett's week as just one team from Under 12 upwards emerged victorious. However, we're sure next week will prove to be a brighter day for our teams and managers. Good Luck from all of us!
