Sunday 6th January 2019

Royal Wootton Bassett Town Under 16 Yellow recorded a fine 4-1 victory against Cirencester Town as they began the new year in fine fashion.

Callum Flay and Adam Jones each struck a pair as they helped their team move within three points of second place side Kings Stanley in North Wilts League Division Two.

Also victorious were the Under 16 Blues, who booked a place in the Wiltshire County Cup quarter final with a convincing 21-1 win against FC Abbey Meads Colts. Daniel Warre was their leading scorer with six goals. Meanwhile, there were hat tricks for Ben Chin and Luca Robinson, George Ford and Freddie Merrett and Thomas Pitt bagged braces, and Nathaniel Bell, Ben Cardus and Jack Langcaster all registered a goal each.

The Under 15 Blues advanced to that stage too as they were awarded their tie against Northside Athletic.

There were narrow defeats for the Under 12 Blue and Under 13 Yellow sides.

At home against Hungerford Town Juniors Black, the Under 12 Blues conceded twice in the opening period before Sam Smith halved Bassett's deficit. But the visitors notched another goal late to triumph 3-1.

Meanwhile the Under 13 Yellows fell by the odd goal in three away against Robins.

Elsewhere, there were heavy defeats for the Under 14 Yellows (1-10 away against Lydiard Youth Hammers) and Under 13 Blues (0-10 against Fairford and Lechlade Celts).
