Under 12 Yellow secure first league win

Sunday 21st October 2018

After a tough start to their season, Royal Wootton Bassett Town Under 12 Yellow had reason to celebrate as they grabbed their first victory of the campaign – and they recorded a clean sheet to boot.

Goals from Beau Hicks and Daniel Seedall and a fine defensive effort powered them to a 2-0 triumph away against Wanborough Juniors.

The result means the Yellows move within touching distance of the mid-table positions in North Wilts League Division Three.

Elsewhere this weekend, a number of Bassett's youth teams were involved in North Wilts League Cup second round action.

And three teams won to advance to the quarter finals, where they will join the Under 16 Blue and Yellow sides who booked their place last weekend.

The Under 15 Blues were the biggest winners this weekend, sticking ten goals without reply past FC Chippenham Youth Blues. Both Harry Farrow and Kevin Prouse netted hat-tricks, while Rhys Farrow, Otis Lewis, Giovanni Pungitore and Rory Ryan were also on target.

There was a convincing win for the Under 18 Yellows too, as they saw off Wanborough Juniors 5-0 thanks to goals from Joe Mitchell (2), Luke Saunders (2) and Aaron Griffiths.

Meanwhile, the Under 18 Blues were awarded their tie against Shrivenham.

A handful of teams bowed out of the competition.

Both the Under 13 Blues and Yellows came up just short in close encounters.

The Blues were defeated 2-1 by Swindon Supermarine, with Noah Cranswick-Coates scoring Bassett's goal.

The tie between the Yellows and Malmesbury Youth was a high-scoring affair, with Bassett falling to a 6-4 loss.

The Under 12 Blues were beaten 4-0 by Stratton Juniors Gorillas, while there were heavy losses for the Under 15 Yellows (0-15 against Swindon Supermarine J) and Under 14 Blues (1-15 against Lydiard Youth).

In league action, the Under 14 Yellows were beaten by the odd goal in three away against Marlborough Youth Colts.
